I’m a teacher, an adventurer, a photographer, a foodie, a nature-lover, a bookworm, a yogilates enthusiast, a nerd, and a proud Pinay!
Lakwatsera de Primera is my personal journal of my adventures in the Philippines and abroad. It aims to inspire my readers to start exploring new places and start having their own adventures through my pictures, memorable stories and budget-travel tips. We live in a wonderful world that gives us endless opportunities to see new places, make new friends, and embark in new adventures. Taralets!
Lakwatsera de Primera is what my grandmother used to call me whenever I get home late in the afternoon all dirty and unkempt from playing in my neighborhood. “Lakwatsera” is the Filipino word for someone who is always on the go or always traveling while de primera are the Spanish words for number one also called numero uno. It’s actually part of the long sermon I get from her because of my itchy feet. If I wasn’t climbing trees or rooftops, swimming in the river or running around the grass field near our house, I was always in the our neighborhood playing patintero, tumbang preso, agawan base, sipa, piko, luksong baka etc. Fast-forward 10 years, I still have itchy feet and have developed an insatiable thirst for adventure, discovery and knowledge with a bigger playground this time. She doesn’t call me lakwatsera de primera anymore but I had decided to use it as my moniker. Now she doesn’t give me a long sermon anymore but asks for pasalubong instead.
